What Happens on the Call

Expect a few plain questions. The provider will likely ask:

• Where is the tree, and how close is it to the house, fence or lines?
• What is wrong with it? Dead, leaning, cracked or fallen?
• Is anyone at risk right now?
• Are there photos you can share?

If the tree is already down or about to fall, say so first. Providers can often tell you how to stay safe while you wait.

What to Ask a Provider

A short list helps you compare options with confidence:

• Do you carry insurance, and can you show proof?
• Is the quote in writing, and what does it include?
• Does the price cover cleanup and hauling, or only cutting?
• Is stump grinding part of the job or priced separately?
• Who handles permits if the tree needs one?
• How soon can you look at the job? Timing varies by provider.

Do not hand over a large payment before the work is agreed in writing. Do not feel rushed by a pushy sales pitch.

Talking to a provider does not commit you to anything. You can ask for more than one quote. You can say no. You can also ask about prevention, such as pruning, watering during dry seasons or checking nearby trees, so the same problem does not return.
